Fight the prolonged sitting position - UX/UI process

July 2018 - 2 weeks
Tools : Surveys, Interviews, Empathy Map, Persona, User journey, Ideation tools (crazy 8s, round robin), Wireframes, Atomic Design, Sketch, Marvel, Flinto

This project was the second project I designed during my UX/UI bootcamp.

THE MISSION
The general brief was to design a tool to improve people's wellness, and I decided to work on a tool to help people tackle the negative effects of the prolonged sitting position on their bodies.

USER RESEARCH
- People are willing to changing their habits, but they don’t know what they should do!
- They are only aware about the work on their sitting posture. So for them, it is a complicated and painful thing to do.
- When talking about other solutions (move during the day, walk more), they are much more optimistic. But they recognized that it’s something they won’t think about on their own.

THE PROBLEM
How might we teach our users the “tips” to fight the negative effects of an extended sitting position and guide them to implement new habits along the day?

USING THE TOOL IN A WORK ENVIRONMENT
The tool will be used at work, so it's important to understand that situation in all of its aspects:
- The users mostly look at their computer screens during the day, less at their phones, but when they move, they carry their phones with them.
- They also often are with other colleagues in the room, sometimes in an open space, so they don’t want to have to do socially-akward stuff in the middle of it.
- They don’t want to go out too often to make some « exercises » because they are afraid of what people will say.

THE SOLUTION
The tool will be an app that sends notifications to remind the user to move during the day and suggest exercises to do.
The user will be able to personalize the frequency of the notifications and to choose the exercises depending on the context.
An addition to the tool will be a very simple desktop extension that just displays the notification of the phone on the desktop.
